You Have A Seat At The Table

I remember a couple of years ago when I was asking God “Was there a meeting about my life that I wasn’t invited to? Where you all decided on what would happen to me and I didn’t get a say?” At that point in my life I was bitter and in despair because things hadn’t come about that I thought would happen by then.

Most of us have expectations of what we think should happen by certain times in our lives. Especially with comparing ourselves to peers, social media, and the list goes on and on.

But we have to remember that we each have our own journey. And God’s time is rarely (if at all) our time.

Which means, we aren’t “behind” in life or “ahead”, we are right where we need to be and we still need to seek God’s face for continued guidance and direction in order to stay on the right path.

Everyone’s story is different. And just in case you’re in a trying time of your life or a difficult season like I was a couple of years ago, and you too might be thinking “What about me God? Can I have a say on when and how things come about?” I want to encourage you this morning, God hears you. You’re not alone. You have a seat at the table.

You are His child. Of course God hears your prayers and knows you even better than you know yourself. He’s not conspiring against you or trying to make you suffer. In fact, most of the time we make things worse for ourselves by leaning on our own understanding.

Trust that whatever you are going through now, He will bring you through as you seek Him with your whole heart.

Luke 14:17 reads: "And he sent his servant at supper time to say to those who had been invited, 'Come, for everything is now ready.'" This verse is part of the parable of the great banquet, where a man throws a large feast and invites many guests. When the time comes, he sends a servant to announce that everything is ready and urges them to come.

Key in this passage being, when it was time, then they were invited to the table.

Trust in God’s timing (not your own). And be of good cheer, you have a seat at the table.

Galatians 6:9  Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
