How did you know?
I was talking with a fellow business owner the other day and she was telling me about how she was exiting a role she had been in for years in order to make room for her new passions and projects.
She was busy doing all of the things. Just a few years ago she hired an assistant through my company INFINITEXEC to help her not wear all the hats in her business. But even though she had more time, she was still busy. Because she was overcommitted.
But recently she had the epiphany to stop and ask herself, “what are you doing?” and through self-assessment was able to realize she had other goals/dreams that she is ready to work on but in order to do that it was time to transition out of other things.
It’s scary to transition because if it’s been a while you’ve grown familiar with your routine. You know what to expect, you do what you do well, and it’s comfortable.
But to get to the next level, you have to let go so you can embrace the new.
Once my colleague announced she was transitioning out of that role, she organically, yet unexpectedly ran into her next partnership opportunity. And now that she has more time and focus she is already making headway on major projects that afford her even more opportunities.
She said “People asked me “How did you know? How did you know all of these other opportunities would open once you transitioned out of your old role/s.” And I answered, “I didn’t”, I just took the leap”.
Sometimes you need to let things go so you can make room for new things. And then once you let go, even if you don’t know entirely what lies ahead, allow yourself to enjoy the beauty of discovery.
Sit in the uncomfortableness of not knowing and be excited to explore. Because soon you’ll find there are even better opportunities waiting for you, but you have to have an open door.
